Skoda Octavia scoops its third straight Red Dot Award
You can always tell if a vehicle is impressive by the number of awards that it has won, and the Skoda Octavia can’t stop scooping them up. It has won its third Red Dot Award for the outstanding design of the vehicle. With dynamic proportions and emotive shapes, the Skoda Octavia has made a big impression for all of the right reasons.
The Skoda Octavia has scooped up another award from Red Dot for outstanding product design. They had previously won the award in 2006 and 2017. A jury of roughly 40 experts from around the world were impressed with the all-new fourth generation version of the Octavia that was released by Skoda. They gave a nod to the dynamic proportions, sculpted design elements, and emotive styling of Skoda’s best-selling vehicle.
Not only does the award represent the third for Skoda in this category, but it is the 14th award overall for the Czech manufacturer. The official handover of the award is meant to take place next month on the 22nd of June in Essen, Germany, yet whether the Red Dot Gala still goes ahead remains to be seen.
Speaking about this accomplishment, Christian Strube, a Board Member for Technical Development at Skoda, said the following:
“At ŠKODA we offer our customers outstanding value for money. This is reflected in our vehicles’ spaciousness and great everyday usability as well as a consistent design philosophy whose core elements are ‘Crystalline’ and ‘Surprising’. Winning the Red Dot Award for the all-new ŠKODA OCTAVIA is a very welcome confirmation of the great job our design team is doing.”
The current iteration of the design language from Skoda is defined by road presence, conveying dynamism, bold surfaces, precise lines, and sculptural elements. The slimmed-down and sharply-defined headlights come with LED technology for the low beam. You also have the option of opting for full-LED Matrix headlights as well, which have a distinctive light signature.
One of the most impressive things about the latest Octavia is the new interior design concept, which is unlike anything we have seen before. This is a first for a production model from Skoda. It features even more luxurious and upmarket materials, which are complemented by a bold centre console, as well as a new multi-level instrument panel. The two-spoke steering wheel has been re-designed so that there is a more intuitive layout for the buttons. Plus, ease of use and ergonomics have been enhanced thanks to the knurled scroll wheels.
So there you have it: another award for Skoda! This is certainly an exciting time for the brand. Not only are they celebrating 125 years in business this year, but their latest Skoda Octavia is set to have its virtual showroom debut in July. We are sure that there are going to be a lot of exciting Skoda Octavia offers going on during this time, so make sure you keep an eye out for them!
