New Skoda Octavia To Arrive in 2017
Added: 03 October 2016
Skoda’s surge to automotive dominance has been extraordinary. A brand revolutionised in the last decade, the Czech giants can now do no wrong. That’s certainly the case with the Octavia and Skoda have announced that the family hatchback and estate will have a remarkable mid-life makeover ready for a release early next year.
Skoda have just unveiled their stunning new Kodiaq at the Paris Motor Show and the new Octavia will be a beneficiary of the concept as it boasts an array of styling tweaks and cutting-edge technology introduced through the new SUV.
Head of design Jozef Kaban was recently quoted as declaring the Octavia the ‘heart of the range’ emphasising the importance of the model from within the key players at Skoda, despite the recent surge in demand for SUVs.
The new Octavia is set to boast a unique LED light signature that Skoda could be set to reel out across the range in the very near future whilst the front design has been given a wider, bolder look with new, resculpted bumpers and a Superb-inspired front grille to finish of the elegant modern appearance.
At the back, C-shaped LED lamps will keep their place in the line-up, although precise tweaks will ensure they have freshness about them, adding to the new look. Inside both the hatch and the estate will both boast the same spacious, family-orientated cabin and boot that has brought so much success to the outgoing model.
Despite the ever-growing demand for more economic cars, Skoda have decided to wait until the next generation of Octavia’s before introducing a plug-in hybrid to the range, so the engine range will remain as a wide selection of reliable engines that are familar with the Skoda range.
There will be a selection of engines to choose from between a 1.0 litre TSI petrol to a 2.0 TDI diesel. There will also be room for a sporty vRS model that will use a vamped version of the 2.0 petrol that will deliver in the region of 250bhp.
The tech inside the cabin is where the real magic has been worked. The new Octavia will deliver a crisp 9.5” touchscreen that is smartphone compatible and will support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It is also rumoured that the Octavia could even get gesture control as Skoda look to equip it with the finest car technologies.
The new Octavia is set to hit dealerships in 2017 and whilst prices haven’t been confirmed we imagine it will fit into a similar pricing so expect it to start from around £16,600. For more details or to register your interest, get in touch with the Sinclair Skoda team today.
